Do the results of the poll on the homepage ever influence the way future episodes are plotted?
For example I'm sure I remember one a while back asking whether Sam was beneficial or detrimental to Brookfield.Did the result of that have any effect on the way the current story is going?
I don't know about the poll exactly but I remember Keri the host saying that the scriptwriters were influenced by listeners views when they cut short the Greg/Helen romance.
I also wonder whether the actors influence episodes? I assume not as I cannot believe the people who play Ian and Adam would have been happy with that incredible storyline about the baby !
I can't imagine that Marc Finn who played Greg would have been very pleased to learn that his contract wasn't being renewed due to the opinions of a handful of people.Anyway that can't be the case because they'd have done away with all the usual Aunt Sallys (Shula, Susan etc) years ago.
Think the storyline referred to was the "Helen's mystery man" one before it was openly acknowledged she was going out with Greg - not the later depression and suicide. Many poeple sussed out who it was in 2 seconds and playing it out seemed totally pointless
Actually I think it was very difficult to guess Greg was Helen's mystery boyfriend because they were both such difficult, prickly characters. I remember saying I would eat my hat if it turned out to be Greg. No, I think the bit they curtailed was the oh-not-so-funny repartee between ill-matched duo over Helen's attempts to make an edible cheese.
But we only have Alijay's word that Keri said such a thing anyway.Think of the mayhem that could be caused if we really did have influence over the writers. They'd start having ridiculous stories about Ruth running off with the cowman or the like.
" But we only have Alijay's word that Keri said such a thing anyway."
Sea Nymph, would I lie to you?
Message 5 ( 3 days ago) on post "Do SW's make it up as they go along?"
As for Ruth running off with the cowman...............now you are being absurd !!!!
So what's the poll for? Is it an attempt to gauge listener opinion and tweak the plots accordingly? For some reason which I can't seem to define I'm not very happy about that idea.I might grouse about the way the storylines are going but I don't want the SWs to chime in with what I think just because I've ticked one box instead of another.
Shouting at the radio is all part of the fun.
I can't find the poll. Is it still there? Help would be appreciated with this!
Am now addicted to message board as well as current story line..........................

Hello, mococo!
and scroll down, looking at the right-hand side. Below Features, Have Your Say, Episode Synopses, Archive Moment, comes, 'Vote'.
Click on that and Do Your Worst. Then have a skipful of cyberdrink in The Bull. Welcome.
I wonder if it's a new record for the number of votes: so far, it's 5979 for Sam and Ruth getting down to it, and 5471 for those with weaker constitutions...
Mr. Keri, IS this a record??
Thanks Sister. Off to look right now.
Had a Baileys last night, but it's a bit early, even for me, this morning.
Shall obviously need several on 7 November????
My only excuse for all this is that it IS half term.
I was present at Pebble Mill when Keri said this and (I think) he repeated it in a thread the other day.
But to what extent is Mustardland's influence felt?
How come we can get shot (!) of Greg early but Shula just goes on and on and on?
>Mr. Keri, IS this a record??
Yes, it's called The Farmer and the Cowman should be friends.
No, seriously, I think it beats the previous record which was about Brian and Siobhan, although this one stayed up a day longer than usual becaue this week's was about a story that only started last night.
Honestly, Mr K
You have written several months of scripts just so that you could inflict that one in Mustardland, have you?
Duff jokes, but no answers.
hmmmmmmmmmmm the indication is we can all put a wage claim in for the position of script consultant

I think if you re-read my post you'll find a pretty clear answer, Sean.

Yes but judging by the way David and Sam were co-operating tonight by the end of the epi, this could mean a number of things....
