Whatever happened to the houses that were built on the land Jack Wooley donated for affordable housing -was it in ? mid 1990's.It was much lauded at the time.
I remember that John archer's girlfriend lived there with her little girl (can't remeber either name or where the housing was) There must have been a mix of rented & owner occupied built.

Hayley & Roy would be perfect candidates.

I really shouldn't take this so seriously but it's been bugging me for weeks!

I think you must mean Glebelands which were actually built 1978/9. Occupants include the Fletchers and Pattersons (info from TAE). I don't remember them as being particularly affordable then, and I expect they're not now. The other development was Grange Spinney (or, according to these boards: Badgers' Leap) which were built about 3 or 4 years ago (and home to Marcus and Sabrina (?)). This development was also supposed to include "affordable housing" but none of the properties was affordable to Roy and Hayley.

PS John and Sharon lived in Sharon's council house near the other ones on The Green (Neil and Susan used to live at no. 1, The Green).

Weren't there supposed to be some "affordable" houses built on the part of grange Farm that Borchester Land (or possibly Matt Crawford on his own) bought?

There were - think either Adam or Roy described them as very small and not really affordable

There was a plan for affordable housing - there was a scene where Christine was undertaking a survey on housing needs and was told where to go in no uncertain terms by Ivy Horrobin I believe. This would date it to the 1980s I guess. I have a memory of Jack being involved and also for some reason I think the police house may have been connected to the plan

You have to remember the exact definition of "affordable housing"....

.. ahem.. I quote: 'Affordable hosing is housing built by developers to meet social needs, usually as an offering to allow them to build some posh, upmarket homes in an unsuitable place (ie green belt land). In the intersts of democracy, the 'affordable homes' will be indistinguishable from the houses around them. These homes will then be sold at knock down prices to deserving local people - but strictly not those whop actually live and have paid employment in the area; they might lower the tone.

The houses, then, are sold cheaply to deserving people (usually people who are known to the developers, or a Counsellor, as being good eggs. The deserving people will then promptly sell saod housing, at full market price (plus a bit more if they can get it), sometimes without even taking the trouble of actually moving in'.

Thus you will realise there is bags of social 'affordable' housing in and around villages like Ambridge; the going rate is usually around half a million quid!

PS I am NOT a cynical person..........
