I was rather dissapointed when I could no longer listen to the Archers after moving to Australia 2 years ago. I thought that I would only be able to listen to it as it was playing.
This was just not possible for my new lifestyle (I had to get dad to copy it on tape every Sunday and send it to me), so I hunted high and low to find a solution.
If you download a program called "Replay Av" it allows you to capture (record) what ever your listening to at the time on your computer to a file. This can subsequently be copied to CD to play in your vehicle at a later time.
This works brilliantly, I have now been doing it for about 18months.
It is not that difficult to do and if anyone wants more information then please ask.
regards.

Nice of you to pass on the tip, but wouldn't it be quicker (and just as practical) to just Listen Again?

If you are there then yes if it is convienent, but if it is not practical (for whatever reason) then you or someone else can record it so that you can listen to it later.
For instance, I do a lot of travelling, so rather than listen to it there and then I can save them up and listen to them when I'm on the road. I just travelled to Perth from Brisbane and I had 10 omnibus episodes to listen too, beleive me, it makes the trip shorter.
The beauty is, once you start recording you can turn the volume down so that whoever has started it doesn't need to listen to it (my wife is not such an avid fan as I am)!

I fire up LA, then press record on Audacity, save it to iPod, then listen to it at my leisure (i.e. in baff wif splif) Much more convenient and blissy than sitting on sofa.
I'm presuming this is all kosher, personal use officer, etc...

Other software that will do this is totalrecorder (for PC) of AudioHijack (for Mac).
Alternatively if you get a DAB radio which will timer-record onto an SD card, you can then copy the file into iTunes (or whatever) and listen to it at your conveninece. (NB they usually seem to record in mp2 which iPods can't play - but iTunes will convert mp2 to AAC, Apple's own format, for you).
There is also an external AM/FM aerial for PC or Mac called RadioShark (it's shaped like a shark's fin...) which comes with timer software and integrates well with iTunes.
Oh for an Archers podcast though....
(As this is N&Q - Mr K - is there any chance of this in the near future?)

There's a lot of goodwill on this, and we are working towards it, but it requires a fair amount of negotiation. Not least the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú has to pass a Public Value Test on whether we can do podcasts at all, after the current trial ends.
