In the US/Canada November is known as 'sweeps month' (as is May), when networks pull out the big guns to try to attract viewers.
Is it the same in the UK?
Have other BIG Archers storylines happen in November or May?
I know the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú doesn't have advertisers, but do they respond to other media?

AFAIK Vicoria there is no direct equivalent of 'sweeps month' as I remember it. Viewing and listening figures are monitored across the board and none are considered more significant than others - though the Christmas period is often perceived as a battle for ratings between the two 'popular' tv channels: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú 1 and ITV 1. The audiences used to be measured by JICTAR ratings but I'm not sure what the current mechanism is called. This information _ought_ to be available somewhere on this site.

The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú does have to apply to central government to raise/set the licence fee every few years, and their case is based not only on actual figures over recent years but also on plans for future development [including targets for revenue from Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú producions.]

Sorry to disappoint if you had hoped the financial future of the entire Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú depended on the will-they-won't-they? story!

It's worth pointing out that any stories happening now aren't because it's November but because tomorrow will be the 15000th episode.

As far I noticed, other stories e.g. Em and Ed splitting up/Ed running off didn't happen when they did becuase of any outside influence e.g. a rival soap. Am I right Keri?

(althought of course, there is the 'death of grace' episode which was very carefully timed! But I'm not sure it's been done since. The timing I mean, not killing Grace, which couldn't really be done more than once)

Yes most big stories are timed simply for dramatic effect and their balance with other stories, rather than any external reason.
