Can anyone tell me when the Dairy and Milking Parlour were modernised?
Are they Hi-Tech and how many Cows can be milked at one time?
Ella May
Off the top of my head I think it was extended from a 12 unit/12 stall herringbone to a 16/16. I'll als our archivist to confirm.
By hi-tech, do you mean robotic milking? If so, no.
Thankyou Keri, I remember Phil being very proud of his new system.
My query was really to see just how long it should have taken David, alone,to have brought in the herd,Gone through the whole process and managed to have got the childrens' tea.As I live by a farm I found the innacuracy annoying
This will be some time as I'm Still be modulated, despite having used these various bords for years under name variations , Ava Cada etc.

Keri,I did mean hi-tech, in the sense that special cattle nuts can be automatically dispensed.but couldn't remember if any money had been available to upgrade at all.
It still seems a very small parlour for a farm of the size of Brookfield and with 200 milkers/dry/in calf.

It was in August 2004. I'm afraid our archivist can't trace whether it went to a 16:16 or a 20:20 but if I remember I'll ask Graham Harvey on Monday at our scriptmeeting.
Do you remember Sam proudly announcing that he'd milked 150 in an hour and a half a while back? And of course quite a few are dried off at the moment.
A 16/16 is a fast parlour ,I expect it would have ACRs even so you wouldnt have much time spare.
Keri;Whilst you are speaking to Graham Harvey can you point out the factual error in berts ploughing match tractor,it should have been a MF65 not a 62 thanks
Keri
"and of course quite a few are dried off at the moment"
It sounds like you know what you re talking about. Do you have your own "Bray" calender with the brookfield herd plotted on it ?
Are you from a farming background?
No, everything I've learned about farming is from initially listening to and subsequently working on The Archers!
And yes, it definitely has ACR (automatic cluster removal, for those who are wondering).
