For years now, since the time changed and a Sunday episode was introduced, I realise I've been confused about how it works. How do you get Friday night's repeat? Which episode is repeated on Monday - is it Sunday night's? Is Sunday night's episode as important as all the others? The cliffhangers seem to come on Fridays - so is I find it odd that I don't know when the repeat would be. Or that there would be none, unless I time it right to get to Fridays on Sunday - which would be when if I didn't want to listen to the whole lot again? about quarter to 11? How does it all fit into an hour in the minibus? Obviously it's cut down, but is it cut from all the episodes including the previous Sunday's or just the previous five?
Der ...
I can't believe I don't know the answers to this after all this time. I've just lived with the slight concusion and it's all seemed to be OK, but someone asked me recently and I got into a right tangle trying to explain it.

concusion ....mmm ...Yep concussion rather than confusion is probably a better word anyway...
Friday night's episode is the only one which is not repeated at lunctime the following day. Before there was a Sunday evening episode (i.e. before 1998) Friday's episode was repeated on Monday lunchtime (instead of the Sunday episode). The question about whether all episodes are equal (in terms of dramatic content) has been rasied previously and we have been assured that they are.
PS The minibus now last 75 minutes.

Thanks Mike. So which episode does the minibus start with? And to catch the non-repeated Friday evening's epi what time would you have to switch on, on Sunday morning?
Try tuning in at 11 am

Right.
So the minibus goes?
Sunday evening
Monday "
Tuesday "
Wednesday "
Thursday "
Friday "
So - just to get this straight, if you listen to the minibus on Sundays AND the Sunday evening episode, the next week on Sunday you will be listening again to the Sunday evening episode as it starts off the minibus?
And if you want the crucial Friday cliffhanger about 11 am on Sunday is you only other (radio) spot for it?
Yes and the minibus filters out some (what it considers) superfluous material to fit it into a 75 minute slot.
Mind you, the Friday night 'cliffhanger' is also available to listen to on the website.

and don't forget the time changes with the omnibus for things like test match cricket (if you listen on long wave) and remembrance sunday, as this week. Before LA I would often get caught out by these changes.
And a self changing watch is on its way to you now. With a name like greenwichmark, surprised you would be caught out. Never mind, I forgot to change all my watches, so what can I say. Thank you for taking part. xx

It doesn't, does it?
6 x 12 mins = 72 mins.

Yes, and 6 x 30 secs (each epi is 12 mins 30 secs)
= 3 mins
72 + 3 mins = 75 mins

So, is the minibus a straight rerun or not then? I thought some was fltered out and have occasionally thought there were bits of coversations missing when I've listened to it - was that just my imagination, a hangover from when they did cut to fit it in?

ohmegod - I've just seen at the bottom of this page another thread - settle an argument - on the same theme. Sorry I didn't see it before. I think I might just be clear now:
6 epis 12.5 mins long
All rerun uncut in the minibus
Friday evening gets no lunchtime repeat
Sunday evening is repeated Monday lunchtime
The minibus starts with the Sunday evening episode of a whole week before
If any of this is wrong I'd appreciate it if you'd correct me.
Looking at the other thread, it seems I'm not the only one to have been confused ever since about 1998...
In the old days when there was a mis-match in running times between the omnibus and the daily programmes there were the "omnicuts" described in the other thread. Now that the times are supposed to match, discrepancies are much rarer but they do exist - occasionally a few sentences are cropped from (or added to a scene). Anna Bee (a poster who, unfortunately, no longer posts on the boards) noticed these moments and drew attention to them several years ago. There was (originally) an official denial that they existed but by dint of recording both the original episode and the omnibus Anna proved that these discrepancies (sometimes) exist.
Occasionally (rarely) an episode has been cut when it contains a mistake/ continuity error. The last example of this being done was when characters in Jaxx were heard to comment that Kenton had just made them a coffee when (as the rest of the world knew) he was in Australia or New Zealand. This was cut from the omnibus (and possibly the repeat episode, too).
Thank you for clarifying that. Thought for a minute I was going bonkers after being corrected by Rick ap Yard and Viola Lass. Was certain I had picked up on a 'cut' on more than one occasion. However, I do stand corrected in as much as they don't snip anything any more (or rarely).

Hi Mike
I do occassionally pop in when I hear my name.....or when I cannot contain myself and have to give an opinion on something!
There was a little Anna Bee moment this Sunday I think, only a few words but they had not been in original episode. Can't remember what now!
Am thoroughly enjoying the Rooth and Dayvid situation!
I am waiting for Kate to leave Lucas and come back to U.K. and to want to include Phoebe in her family......
Thanks Mike, regards Anna
I just thought I'd mention how much I've just enjoyed reading this thread from start to finish. This is what mbs should be all about, funny, informative, and nothing too serious....err that's it really (but I'm just out of premod and I think its gone to my head! - Sorry)
You are welcome - and that's what ex premod is all about!
