Does anyone remember the name of the (silent) black cricketer who appeared in Ambridge sometime in the 70's or '80's....? I remember he was a star player and had an Irish or Scottish surname, causing no-one to anticipate that he would be black. After the initial stunned silence, I think the comment was something along the lines that "they" - i.e. people from the Caribbean - had all sorts of names.
I think Jethro was involved in the conversation...
Actually, could it have been "Campbell"...?
