There are a number of threads in DTA about drink driving, and people are rightly asking how the residents of Ambridge go home after they have been drinking in The Bull. Surely they don't all walk home in all kinds of weather?
Is there a taxi service in the village?
But wouldn't a lot of them do just that, unless disabled?
Interesting, though - would a taxi calling out from Borchester or Hollerton charge for the trip out to collect them as well....?
Agree totally, R-a-Y, based on 20 years of living in a village (albeit somewhat larger than Ambridge)
Ther's defintely a taxi firm advertised on my new map of Ambridge (Christmas present from eldest son).
Yes 'Hassett taxis'.
No car so had to use taxis for most country trips when we lived down south. They just charged for your journey and were fairly reasonable especially for four of you.
IIRC Buuurt Froi used to run a taxi service in his spare time.
Haven't heard it mentioned for a few years now.
Probably a good little earner with all the drinkers off to Borchester/Felpersham. (On the other hand knowing the casual attitude of the inmates, maybe not).
I suspect his status is more "minicab" than proper licensed cab.
(Please don't tell the insurance company or the taxman).

Mm, that was a very dodgy undertaking, I think. He certainly hasn't offered a taxi service for many years.
