Anyone know the recipe for the aubergine dish mentioned on the lunch time episode? I've got one languishing in the fridge!

This was exactly the question that I logged in to ask. Aubergine Sambal, I believe. Hopefully, my post will bump this thread up. Someone out there must have a recipe.
Thanks
Go to Google and type the name of the recipe that you after, see if that helps, my father does that all the time to find new recipes with success..
he's been doing this for the last few years.
I can't help with the actual recipe, sorry.
If you do that, you get recipies without tamarind, and non-veggie! (They have prawn in them).
Please, Keri, will you ask Lynda for the recipe?Or Satya?

No tamarind, though.
Google aubergine curry - the 10th one on the list is aubergine and tamarind. Address bar has nz in it.

here you go! It's from Kerala
I can't eat curry, pops, but was just pointing out that the initial request was for Lynda's recipe, aubergine sambala. The suggestion was, google for it, and I was showing why this might not answer the request in message 1.
The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú recipe that Lady M has linked to is ridiculous. One of the ingredients is ¾ of an aubergine.
So what do you do with the left over ¼?
Good point, Sean!
Please can we have Lynda's recipe?

SeaN, it's obviously intended for that moment when you find an Aubergine at the back of the 'fridge, ¼ rotten...

3/4 of an Aubergine is a bit like 3/4 of a piece of string isn't it and it wouldn't go far between 4 people? Mind you the best thing to do with the left-overs is turn them into fritters, absolutely delicious.

Are you going to treat us to your recipe for string fritters then Reggie? Dx

Family secret I'm afraid Dusty, passed on through the generations. Now you should have tasted my mum's string fritters.

Oi! Don't shoot the messenger. I did me best!
But presumably marystaffrd had already googled and not found the correct ingredients/recipe?
Hope the aubergine has ceased to languish, and the veggie recipe emerges from The Mialbox some time.
Would there be enough for an Archers recipe book or have they done such a thing already? It's not like the marketing department to miss an obvious trick like that.
There have been a few Archers' recipe books (see Books and Out of Print sections of FAQs and Info). The only one currently in print is Pat's one on organic food. Rosie has (at least) one of these books in her collection but when I looked at it it was fairly standard stuff: ask each actor to produce one recipe and they weren't particularly connected to the programme.
I would suggest a book of meal (and soup) recipes (connected to actual storylines) would be a sure-fire winner ... feeling low? ... then have have a bowl of Jenny's carrot and coriander soup ... want to impress your son's girlfriend ... try Suasan's Aubergine Sa/whatever curry!
Jazzer's hash browns
TOM ARCHER SAUSAGES and mustardland mash
Phil's hemp sponge
Lilian's Gin Surprise - the surprise being it's just gin and nothing else

If you are still interested in a roughish idea for your aubergine, what I do with aubergine is follow a recipe for stuffed courgettes or tomatoes, it usually works for me & adapt it to your taste.
Good luck with it
Archers Annual 2000:
Phil's Festive Almond Biscuits (star shaped)
Grey Gables Goose (Jean Paul's alternative)
Freda Fry's Heart Warming Soup for carol singers (onion, potato, broccoli, stilton, chicken stock)
Archers Annual 2001:
Pat's free range farmhouse chickens (who else has heard them mention chickens?)
Tommy's Bridge Farm Originals Hotpot (Pork and Leek Sausage casserole)
Tony's Favourite Blackberry and Yogurt cheesecake (includes Bridge Farm butter and Bridge Farm double cream)
Helen's Handy Chocolate Oatcakes (covered in dark organic chocolate)
"The Archer's Country Cookbook" by Mollie Harris has its recipes arranged by month, in 'menus' and most are linked to a character (annoyingly it doesn't have an index but a list of characters at the back). It's the book I use for my standard pancake recipe. Sadly aubergines don't feature (they weren't common in 1976) but if you ever need to know what to do with beestings, or 'Joby's Mum's Recipte for Jugged Hare' it's ideal.
Steer clear of 'Jill Archer's Ketchops' though...
Jennifer has a chapter of recipes in her "Ambridge An english Village through the ages."
There are some from a Mrs. Palmer, housekeeper to the vicar of Ambridge 1861 -1894, but the more interesting (to me) ones are from the Ambridge Women's Institute ("Village Cookery" 1949), and Jennifer gives the following recipies:
November Pie(Mrs Gabriel)
Half-Pay Pudding(Christine Archer0
Chop Pies(Mrs D. Cooper)
Oxtail and beans(Mrs Blossom)
Cabbage and Bacon(Mrs. J. Archer)
Chocolate Potato Pie(Mrs. Fairbrother)
Flannel Cakes (Miss Grace Fairbrother)
Boiled Leg of Mutton with caper sauce (Doris Archer)
