I haven't been able to establish exactly when it was that Jack had his pacemaker fitted but it must have been prior to 1991 as it was definitely in place when he married Peggy. I know from personal experience that pacemaker batteries do not last for ever and have to be monitored on a regular basis by hospital staff and eventually replaced. Unless I've missed it I don't recall any mention of this on the programme. With Jack in his present confused state, visits to the hospital would be something of a problem (as demonstrated recently by the difficulties Tony had with Jack in a visit to the dentist) so I'm wondering whether the SWs have overlooked the problems that people with pacemakers can have. Perhaps Mr Keri can tell us what the position is.
I've got a feeling it was spring, 1988.
No doubt, like so many Ambridge medical emergencies it has miraculously corrected itself...
I'me sure I have a memory of Jack having his pacemaker, or at least the battery, replaced at some point.
But some time ago, I think...
That's an interesting point, triffid. I'll mention it to the team.
