    How big is Lower Locksley?

Never mind the village shop, just how big is Lower Locksley?

Leaving aside various tenanted farms, the place seems to grow at a regular pace. Conference centre and wedding venue, tree-top walk, rare breeds farm with children's corner, croquet lawn, lake, vineyard (producing large volumese of wine to sell and give away), managed woodland, falconry centre (what did happen to that), stately home - with guides (volunteers! - tight fisted Lizzie), souvenir shop, art gallery, and even room for Eddie to dig out the haw haw, (probably more that I don't remember) - and to think Nigel has restored iit all - not bad for Mr Snowy!

Well, inside, there's the ballroom, the library, "the office" as well as Nigel's study, the "state" dining room, the attics full of old masters, the old nursery, bedrooms for all with several to spare, servants' quarters, vast kitchen with pantries and larders and laundry room.
Then there's the breakfast room, the siiting room and naturally the drawing room not forgetting the front and back stairs huge entrance hall and flight of stone steps to the front door, not forgetting the cellars all ready and waiting for laying down cases of Chateau LL 2007.
Not sure if there are any secret passages or a Priest hole......

    from Saddicts:

    Lower Loxley Hall
Residents: (Hall) Nigel, Elizabeth, Freddie & Lily Pargetter. Lewis Carmichael
(Estate Cottage) Edgar & Eileen [formerly Pugsley] Titcombe

This stately home was built over three centuries ago in 1702 by the Pargetter family. It is a Grade II listed building that imparts true Jacobean-styled architecture. The exterior is a fanciful vernacular with columns, round-arch arcades and a flat roof with openwork parapets. Details of scrolls, straps and lozenges – typical of this style - also adorn the edifice. The interior sports an original Jacobean fireplace in the Great Dining Room and a neo-classical library [which was added under Cedric Pargetter’s watchful eye.]

Lower Loxley Hall sits atop over 400 acres of parkland that encompasses surrounding farms belonging to the Lower Loxley Estate. The three acres of formal gardens, originally laid by Sir John Pargetter, are still being cultivated to this day by loyal gardener, chauffeur and estate dogs’ body Titcombe.

However, the current generation of Pargetters have lowered the tone a bit of the stately mansion. Gerald Pargetter, Nigel’s father, met his wife while she was dancing for a wartime variety show in London. Although Julia (aka Joan) likes for people to think she was a thespian from good London stock, she was actually a showgirl from an east end, greengrocer’s loins. But delusion is actually Julia’s forte. Playing aristocratic roles around the estate (and with the local gentry) is what she excels at.

In 1996, Julia was aghast when it was suggested by her son and his wife Elizabeth (a yeoman’s daughter) that they open the doors to the public in order to raise the necessary funds to maintain the Grade II listed house. Transposing some of the rooms into a conference centre and wedding reception hall have also helped pay the bills – much to Julia’s chagrin.

Julia has since passed away however and the entire occupants of the hall have been riddle with guilt about the torment they presented her on a daily basis. We can only hope Lizzie will soon top herself followed by her whiney little brats Lily and Freddie.
The latest additions added to Loxley Towers' grounds are a treetop walk, a rare breeds petting area, a café, a shop and an art gallery. All of which employs Hayley Tucker [nee Jordan], Kathy Perks, Mr and Mrs Titcombe. Lord knows who’s cooking in the café though!

Three acres of formal gardens and just Titcombe tending it all, what a bargain!

Oh yes, there's a thought -- I always assumed her weak heart would take her out, but riddled with guilt? Good one, hot diggety dawg!

    oo, cross-threading ...

    Rosie,

    Interesting, but highly suspicious.

    - ???

    - + ?

    - - No, Lewisham, actually. Lewisham is to the East End as, say, Paisley is to Edinburgh.

    - would be a great deal more hindrance than help with the bills, as transposing means moving.

    - and the bleedin' obvious: !

Built in 1702 and Jacobean? How out-of-date is that?

btw, irrelevant/irreverent thought: Robin Hood was 'Robin of Loxley', though it was Loxley Hall in the vicinity of Nottingham, or thereabouts.

So why can we only read the first message? Where are all the others? Lost in the dark passages of Lower Loxley perhaps?
