You can't please all of the people.........

  I am about to do a bit of outrageous sucking up, and I am totally unrepentant about it. I don't remember exactly what thread it was, but it was in Discuss the Archers and Mr. Keri intervened to say that it is possible that we don't yet know the full story of what is going to happen at Brookfield so we shouldn't make too many assumptions. While this was not exactly greeted with torrents of abuse, not too many people were gracious about it.
  
  So I just wanted to say to Mr. Keri, don't worry there are some of us out here lurking and reading, and occasionally posting, who do like the current crop of stories (or maybe non-stories would be a better description), and who don't want a sensation a week, and for whom silly April fool jokes and longwinded lenten japes are all part of the Archers rich pattern.
  
  I can also sympathize with you Mr. K. Many years ago when I was employed as an HR manager in a medium sized company, After being asked, for about the fifteenth time, by the resident gossip, how much rise we would be getting that year, in a moment of exasperation. brought on by her incessent questioning, I pointed out that the annual salary review might not always be going upwards.
  About 30 minutes later my 'phone rang and the MD asked me why I had started a rumour that we were cutting salaries. Fortunately he had a great sense of humour and when he heard the real story thought it was very funny, but admonished me to remember that not everyone was firing on all cylinders. I learned my lesson and kept mum after that.
  
  Anyway Mr. K. I think you do a great job looking after these boards which are mostly lots of fun and also quite a useful information source, so don't let a few whingers get you down.

  Lottie It's perfectly possible to be a 'whinger' i.e someone who likes to comment, dissect and occasionally praise what we are presented with AS IT OCCURS (the moment would be rather lost in an essentially ephemeral medium if we all waited for eventual roll-out) AND to appreciate the way Keri does his job. I think he knows this but it might be worth saying again. Keri is diligent judicious and, rather like the best people wirking with children (and I say that as a relevant analogy from my own field not as a comment on posters!)has the rare skill of knowing when and if to intervene or let us work things out between ourselves.
