Driving through the midlands the other day I remembered that there was a villge which used to be used for photos of the Archers... the Bull etc.
Can somene remind me where this is.
Thanks
Inkberrow.
Let's see if the mods strike THIS message out.
That's the place, didn't go near it so couldn't have popped into the Bull for a pint.
Not being pedantic here, but publicity shots etc have featured other places besides Inkberrow. For example, the church in Hanbury has been used as St Stephen's.
I've driven through Inkberrow fairly frequently recently (taking a cat to be mated - don't ask) and, although it does have creeping housing development (like Ambridge) it also has a brand new Doctor's surgery and a choice of two pubs (so not really like Ambridge at all - which must make the locals happy.
it`s in your head, silly
I think from what's been posted here before that Inkberrow was used as the starting point, with bits taken from elsewhere.

Many moons ago I read in RT that Inkberrow had been replaced by Doddington as the model for Ambridge. I actually visited Doddington at the time, but everyone seems to have forgotten all about that now.

Which one?

The standard answer we have had to this in the past is that Ambridge is based on no single village but in publicity shots the the Bull has been represented by a pub in Inkberrow and St Stephens has been represented by a church in Hanbury. In any case if you're looking for Ambridge I think you need to find Borsetshire first.

Which one?Â
Which one what? Which Doddington? Erm . . . the one whose name I got wrong. It should be Toddington, sorry! It's just north of Winchcombe.
Mike... yes I know, but your "in the past" is more recent than mine. I'm talking about prehistoric time, well, pre-internet anyway!

I wasn't trying to be picky over D/Toddington. I'm just curious to search the net for pictures of it!
I keep vaguely expecting to find Ambridge on a map somewhere. It's got to be real, hasn't it? I mean, I'm listening to it every night. Don't tell me the people aren't real either? It would put paid to my efforts to place Bert's accent.
