I recently stayed in a hotel which had a small pile of books left on the table, presumably to fit in with the room's decor and for the amusement of any very bored guest.
One of the books was The Defector by Charles Collingwood.Should I have swiped it as a piece of obscure Archers memorabilia or was it written by another of the Collingwood clan?

Sean, I've just had a quick google and discovered that the author is a Charles Collingwood born in Michigan in 1917 so just as well you didn't swipe it for sale on e-bay as Archers stuff.
Thanks, Polly.
Oddly enough one of the other books was called something like Adam with Arrows which if you think about it is a double Archers connection.

Ooh Adam as St Sebastian. Very gay icon; very Adam.
On topic: ages ago I read a column by TA's very own Charles Collingwood in the 'My Country Childhood' series in Country Living magazine. Not a bad piece of writing at all - if slightly gooey with reminiscences of his own father.
