Is Mrs A still alive and kicking at The Laurels and does anyone still visit her? Who else has been a resident?
I'm sure we'd have heard if she'd died. I think the Forrests were there once - or maybe it was only Prue.
As far as I remember, we first heard about The Laurels in connection with Prue Forrest. She lived there but not Tom, who visited as often as possible.
Mrs A must still be alive, as her death has not been announced! She does get a very occasional mention, but the SWs never send any of her old friends to visit her.
Susan worked in the office of a care home for a while IIRC - was it The Laurels or somewhere else?
Alma.
So she did! You have got a good memory. It was the Laurels. Susan has had so many completely different jobs that it's hard to keep up.
Firstly, I'm positive Mrs A is still with us. I'm sure we'd have heard if not.
Re the Forests, Tom joined Pru at the Laurels when a double room became available in 1997. They were together there for one year, when first Pru died on 11 November, and Tom died on 19 November.
Keith
Thanks Keith. After I had posted, I thought perhaps Tom had joined Prue in The Laurels at the end.
I well remember that they died almost at the same time.
Alma.
Mrs Antrobus is still alive and living at The Laurels. Occasionally someone goes to visit her or pick her up to take her to Church. I think the actress who used to play Mrs A. died but I do wish we could hear from this character sometimes. I always thought that she was a very interesting person.
I agree smarttedebear. I would have thought Roy and Hayley at least would visit her with Phoebe - they did lodge with her didn't they? Or was it Tom and Hayley at that time?
Whoops - I meant John & Hayley.
When we saw Keri in Edinburgh in November 06, the Mrs A actress Margot Boyd was still alive and well, though very old. He said he would pass on our good wishes to her. We all agreed she was the one character everybody liked.
Ruth also lodged with her at Nightingale Farm.
It was Roy and Hayley. What would Phoebe be doing with John Archer? ;o)
Alma.
Alma, Margot is indeed a good age. She is in fact 93, and will be 94 on 24 September. And a wonderful actor, with a lovely warm voice. I've heard her in many radio plays.
With best wishes,
Keith

Thanks Alma. No, I know Phoebe wouldn't have been with John & Hayley but did they ever actually live together before the dreadful Sharon (was it?) came on the scene? If so, where did they live?

April Cottage. That is where they were living when John had his secon d fling with Sharon.
The first time around he was not in a steady (or any) relationship and Sharon was living in a caravan on his parents's farm.

Please convey our heartfelt good wishes to Margot Boyd, Mr Keri, a fine actress and a marvellous talent. Mrs Antrobus was always one of my favourite characters on TA...

I am glad to hear that Margot Boyd is alive and well. I always liked Mrs Antrobus. I only wish we could have heard Teddy, her husband. He sounded so interesting when Mrs A. talked about him.
I will pass on the good wishes to Margot. Thank you all.

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
That your idea of a joke? Sick.
Hang on, wasn't there a middle time, when he moved in with Sharon, after she had moved into a council house, but before she flounced off to Leeds...?
1. John fancied Sharon, emptied her chemical toilet when she was living in the caravan, but she only had eyes for Thorkil
2. He slept with her in Pat and Tony's bed (leaving her knickers in the duvet, how Pat found out)while lookng after the farm while the other 4 were on holiday
3. He moved in with her in the council house that George helped Sharon get - he looked there for the Mark Hebden cricket trophy he'd lost.
4. He moved into April Cottage with Hasyley, but, some time later, Sharon sought him out and they slepped together.
< they slepped together >
Snork, Rosie, just love that typo! It looks so much more down and dirty than "slept together"!
Alma.
Nice to hear that Mrs. A. is still alive and kicking and interested in cricket. For me, a highlight of this evening's episode.

And for me, Colin.
Hopefully someone will show her these MB's, so she'll know how fond listeners are of her and Mrs A!
