Has anyone in Ambridge ever kept tropical fish?
Grey Gables must have a tankful in the foyer and I bet Freda often cooks carp.
Rosie, I'd just like to say thank you for the worst pun I've seen in a thread title for ages. (Especially as cod aren't tropical.)

RosieT, I always thought you were against tropical inserts.

(innocent, wide-eyed smile) Are cod not tropical, like fruit juice?

Pollty, just got curious (and bored with board boring about non-Archers) and it's odd, tht no fish ever seem to have been kept. Nigel seeems a fishy carater ...
Fish, tropical or otherwise, have certainly been mentioned in TA. There was one memorable episode during which Hazel poured vodka into a fish tank at (I think) Grey Gables whilst uttering the words "bye bye little fishes". Does anyone else remember this I wonder? I think the background to this was that Jack was away somewhere (possibly on his honeymoon with Peggy) as I recall that Captain was pining for him and Hazel gave him (Captain) a good kick which infuriated Nigel who was there at the time.
Further to my previous posting I should have added that the fish all died and had to be replaced so that Jack never found out. I can't remember who paid for the replacement fish but it was definitely not Hazel.
Paul, bad, dedded husband of Auntie Cardboard, had a trout farm once.
I seem to remember all the fish died & he had no insurance.
