& does David know Adam knows?
We have several couples who know - do they all know they all know? Sorry - I'm sure this has been asked and answered repeatedly lately but I couldn't find it in the mayo. We need one of those handy round-up threads.
I don't know if they know, but I suspect they don't (if they /do/ then I find their mutual silence on the matter mystifying).

Yes Bette, I heard the start of the omnibus this morning (had to go out then and missed the rest) and thought the way they were both pussyfooting around the reasons for Brian's absence was a bit odd.
So many people know at this stage that surely when Siobhán finally dies someone will blurt out too much in front of the wrong person.
I also wonder about Pip - Ruth and David do know, and unless they are very weird must discuss it from time to time. Pip is hyper-alert to secrets after sussing how bad the situation was between her parents last back end. So - how likely is it that she hasn't overheard anything yet?
.
Reading this before posting it, I do realise that 'unless they are very weird' is a fairly big if.
When I read "message 1", I thought it was Donald Rumsfeld with his "unknown unknowns", then I realised it was about Rory (or Ruaidhri, as Siobhan would spell it!).
As the political commentators put it, it's not the "misdeed" that causes the problems, it's the attempts at cover-up. I'm looking forward to high farce and drama when the secret comes out!

I think Adam knows that David knows. Jenny knows who knows (she went and asked Lizzie who knew) and I expect she would have told Adam. I think the reason for the non conversation was that David doesn't want to discuss Brian's affair with Brian or any other Aldridge, particularly after his own marital difficulties. Shula, David and Elizabeth (and their spouses) all know that the others know. Adam and Debbie are the ones where there is no certainty about whether they know the list of who knows.
Dean (and others)
Try this thread where Sixth Sheep did some sterling work on "who knows ?" and "who knows who knows ?"
dondy
and doesnt david only know (and hence ruth) because brian insisted on unburdening himself on david? something he never wanted and always protests about. i always chuckle when brian starts waving that bottle of whisky about as an in incentive. 'david, old man, you're the only one i can talk to'.
thanks dondy, that's just what I needed - will peruse it and come back.
irene, yes that seems a good summary of poor David's situation.
Dean, just wanted to catch you as you wanted to comment on the FAQs. The deadline is Wednesday. There's a thread still on the first page of Notes & Queries, so if you want to comment that's probably the best place. (Apologies if you've already commented; I didn't notice your name.)
'Ö'
Thanks for the reminder Badgey, I'll try to have a proper look tomorrow (will be going to bed in half an hour or sooner, you know how it is, at least I do sleep).
I'm one of the 'less is more' clique when it comes to explaining all the jokes.
