Thats it really - her time as a prominent silent was more than 20 years ago, I think, and wasnt she quite old then?
Hallo Helen - Jean Harvey was at her peak in the late 70's, when she was Aunt Laura's arch-rival as the mainstay of the WI. That does not mean of course that she was the same age as Aunt Laura, but I would have guessed in her fifties - so about 10 years older than Jill and Christine. Jean Harvey's daughter Susan was a glamorous young woman, so that would tally.
So now in her mid-eighties, and as sprightly as ever, no doubt, would have no difficulty knocking up the odd home-made cake....

Thanks for the answers - that's a relief - I thoght she was older than the queen mother and I was worried about her carrying out arduous silent duties.
When Charles and Jean Harvey arrived in Ambridge(1975), their daughter Susan was of an age to go out with Gordon Armstrong the gamekeeper, so I'd thought she was early 20s. There was never any talk of them being extra-elderly parents, so I'd mentally put them as 40-45ish, then. That'd make them 70 - 75ish now, I'd think.
actually, though, I don't think she was a silent at all, but quite loud at the time......!
Actor was Patricia Gibson (Charles Harvey was played by Victor Lucas)
Ohh, just noticed in my TBOTA (not found your copy yet, careen?) that Susan Harvey "appeared in a revue sketch with Brian Aldridge, played the piano for Tom Forrest at a harvest supper, and was Prince Charming in the local panto."
It's the ""appeared in a revue sketch with Brian Aldridge,"" that's interesting...
Another byblow for Home Farm Aldridges to fight with?
