I seem to remember that Robert left Lynda a few years ago. I remember (or think I do) Lynda sitting down in the garden and crying. But I don't remember anything further than this. The reason I remember it is because it was the first time I remember Lynda being anything more than a comic figure of fun and general annoyance to the 'real' villagers, and showed a far more sympathetic side to her. I though it was done rather well and showed that she could act well. It was also the first time, I think, that I'd become properly aware of Robert.
However that was as far as my memory goes, and it's so fuzzy I might be getting it completely wrong and discover it was actually two completely different characters – or even a different programme (although I doubt the latter).
Can anyone help me out?
thanks

You are correct. Robert wanted to lend Coriander some money for a deposit on a flat, Lynda became a smidgeon domineering about it, "We are NOT going to lend her the money - who does she think she is?" etc. and Robert quietly packed up and disappeared.
He finally made contact by text, I think, and Lynda was frantic. She had a bit of a sob.
Joe came along, and Lynda sobbed to him - "He says he's gone to visit friends in Wales - but we haven't *got* any friends in Wales!"
To which Joe replied, "But plenty of people haven't got any friends in Wales!"

Thanks, Rosie. Knew you'd come through for me.
I don't remember that line of Joe's from the time, but reading it just now made me laugh out loud. Classic!
(Was this the first time Lyndibots had a 'proper' storyline rather than simply being the village busybody?)

Lynda was
¬ a tactful and non-judgemental mentor to Kate
¬ a brilliant example of a proper employer when she engaged Betty o do her cleaning, after jennifer's on-the-hoof idea of What A Cleaning Lady does
¬ deceived by Clive Horrobin, she misplaced her trust in him

'a brilliant example of a Proper Employer.....What A Cleaning Lady Does'. Perhaps she could have a word with Ruth
I hope she wouldn't be so interfering and tactless.
Rosie T in message 2 - Thanks for that, Rosie. I distinctly remember laughing out loud when Joe delivered that line. Wonderful.
