Just keen to explore the derivation of this interesting ML catchphrase ...
Sat, 02 Jun 2007 09:27 GMT, in reply to Sixth_Sheep in message 1
SW laziness*. Just after Greg shot himself we went through about three weeks where at least twice a week someone would say something and the response would be "It's what Greg would have wanted". If it wasn't intended as an in-joke it certainly came across as one.
(*Or more likely, lack of communication, where the scripts went across a boundary between two SWs and each thought they'd invented the phrase...)
Thanks, Peet. Can we think of any other such catchphrases?
Apart from "batting for Darrington"?!

It's what Betty/Siobhan*/Jack* would have wanted.
(*Mystic Peet predicts - listen out for these in upcoming scripts!)

Its parsnip and parmesan.Â
This, of course, needs qualifying. Soup, on the Archers, usually referes to the generic Ambridge soup of ages which is ALWAYS served at Bridge Farm for lunch everyday 365 days a year. This generic soup is also often served at Home Farm and sometimes at Glebe Cottage, when the casserole is on loan.
Shula has been known to deviate from this generic soup, and serve something which sounded like p & p.
I assume Brookfield soup comes from a tin?

A pint of Shires please*

Peggy: No, no, really . . . . oh very well, I'll have a small sherry.
Re soup:
Even the dying Siobhan had soup, causing much loud snorking amongst the more hard-hearted of us.
I thought by then the SWs were definitely having us on.

Anyone who remembers the old Fry and Laurie sketch would have been expecting a rival lover to pop up on the other side of her bed proffering "broth".
