Is there a way of de-registering from these boards? and, if so, how?
Thank you
click the bit where it says 'retrieve my details' at the top right of your screen.
You'll have to put in your password, then you'll get taken to a page which allows you to change your details etc.
At the bottom of this page there's a section 'Remove services or -
cancel membership'
Take it from there.
Many thanks Billhooks. Your quick reply is appreciated.
Does anyone know, just out of interest, whether there are really eight million users of these boards - judging by the registration numbers?

Maybe of all Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú boards - user numbers are for any board not just the Archers
They are mainly Leggsy under different appendages.

In the really early days of h2g2 several thousand U-numbers were allocated, then printed sequentially on little cards along with the associated password and spread around a number of Student Association bars. Other than that, and all the 2-digit numbers being taken for "staff", for every U-number allocated somebody had to sign up, although it may have been the same person more than once as pointed out above.
Do you mean people are posting under different names? How do they do that?

Leggsy (Mister Legs, M® Legs™, Paul D'Otherone etc.) has numerous accounts, and is thus better placed to explain the mechanics of it. I only have three, and only actually use one of them.
Is there any way of knowing how many post on the ML boards?

Not really. Mister Keri may have access to tools that'll tell how many people are on at a given time, but there's no real way to tell how many are really different people.
OK. Just wondered. Thanks

No - I'm Spartacus
I'm Arthur, I think, Arthur I am, therefor I think.
I don't think I'm Alex Hebden.
