I'm reading Jennifer's Diary (by Jo Toye, from 2003), kindly passed on to me by Rosie and Mike, and Jenny has made a couple of mentions of Brenda having a "history" with the Archer clan.
Weds 9 July
Brian harping on again to Adam ... about Brenda fancying him. (That girl, honestly, this family seems to hold a fascination for her.)
Fri 18 July
Roy and Hayley had to drop out [of the planned night out wit Brenda and Adam], so it was just him and Brenda: I bet, scheming little minx! ... Still not at all sure about Brenda, after her history with this family...
I remember Bren fancying Adam before finding out he's gay, but what is this 'fascination' and 'history' JD refers to? I can't think of any Archer boys of similar age to Bren other than Tom, who she's now hooked up with, so what can this history be? And with whom?
Most grateful for enlightenment.

Maybe she's confusing her with her mum who used to clean for the Aldridges and who Brian made a pass at. Or even possibly her brother, father of their grandchild.
In fact Brenda is one of the few Tuckers who hasn't been entangled, sexually, with the Aldridges.
I think it refers to when Brenda "stole" Lilian's toyboy, Scott(?Daniels?) and moved in with him to Hayley and Roy's flat in Nightingale Farm.
p.s. She also went out with Lilian's son, James: so not an Aldridge connection, merely Archer menfolk.
James, indeed, Rosie, but that was a couple of years after these comments. I remembered Scott but discounted it given that he wasn't an Archer, although of course, it might be related to the fact that he was Lilian's toy boy. (Seems a bit of a strong comment over that little episode, though.)
Oh, of course she did try and expose the Borchester Land farrago, which Brian was involved in. I wonder whether sour grapes over that led to JD's comments. Perhaps it wasn't a soxual thing at all.
Thanks for your comments, both of you.

Lilian, Jennifer's sister, was the Archer! Therefore, family. As is James part of Jennifer's family.
If Mike gets his leg over Lillian (or vice versa) that could be a full house of Tuckers for the Aldridge/Bellamys then.
Understand, Rosie. I was agreeing with your reminder that Lilian's involvement in the Scott episode was the Archer connection. I can't agree that JD was referring to James, though, unless we credit her with Nostradamus-like powers of prescience.
Reggie – enough of that talk or I shall have an attack of the vapours. (Were you listening to TA while on holiday, by the way, or have you just been mugging up on the synopses? You missed some woeful sub-Brian Rix farce in the Mike–Lilian story, if you did take a break from listening.)

Was this around the time Brenda had been a bit too friendly with Simon Gerrard (then Mr Debbie) who was teaching an evening class she was attending. They were seen in a bar together. If so not surprised JD would be wary of her
Ah thank you, Mabel, I had forgotten all about that.
