Does anyone remember who was the first princess to appear on the Archers? I think it was Princess Margaret but does anyone know for sure?
No, I don't know for sure but I can't believe that the "establishment" would have gone along with any previous Princess appearing on the Archers.
Er - on reflection - were there any Princesses available earlier than Margaret?
Thinking aloud - No - I don't think there were.
So I think Maggie must have been the first.
I see there has been a "semi official" biography of the good lady published.
(No personal interest in same).

I thought the first princess nearly died in a fire when attempting to rescue her horse in the 1950s, but miraculously escaped unbeknown to her tedious husband and ended up marrying the chap in charge of Monaco.
HMQ was Princess Elizabeth for (about) 18 months after TA started regular broadcasts, but I don't think that she would have been allowed to visit Ambridge.
DH.
Big ears was in the programme as a silent. Pat had a reported conversation with him when she visited Highgrove.
What I recall is Helen going missing in the woods (robably needing a wee, but not having to be escorted like Ruairi) and coming abck all smug. Pat asked her what had happened and she went all nauseatingly coy, and said, "I can tell you that I'll have to go ahead with my cheese - it's practically got the Royal Seal of approval, he said I just jolly well HAD to do it!" You're right as usual Rosie. Even as I posted that I thought that it would be unlike Pat to boast about that sort of thing even these days.

Look here:
I think she was having one of her spells. The Court Circular reported HRH as being far elsewhere(details forgotten, I`m not that sad to remember them, having looked it up on the day). Who do you believe?
