Dear Archers Production team,
I came across this info recently in an article provided by our district council.
If you want to develop the story line regarding the dumping of waste on David's land further, this might be useful to you.
Did You Know
that if you have any work done to your house or garden you
have a 'Duty of Care' to ensure that the person or company
removing the waste or rubble is an authorised and licensed
waste carrier?
This means that you are responsible for making sure that your
waste is not fly tipped by a third person. If material is dumped
illegally and traced back to you, you could face a fine of up
to £5,000.
If you are approached by a household clearance company
you should:
" Ask to see a copy of the firm's waste carriers licence
• Obtain a waste transfer note or a receipt and a valid
company name, address and telephone number
If in doubt, you can check instantly whether a firm is a
registered waste carrier by going to:
www.environment-agency.gov.uk/publicregisters
or by calling 087080 506 506

That is very interesting.
(a) It probably (but not necessarily) exposes the "all stories are thoroughly researched" line.
(b) It is very useful.
I was not aware of it, but it is logical and does make sense. It has always been pretty clear that the cheap cowboys do not go through the proper channels.
