Or so I was always taught at school. Can somebody tell me what the scale is on the downloadable wallpaper maps of Ambridge?
Of course there's an ulterior motive.I want to know how far that snake (if snake it is) travelled in getting from Grey Gables to the church.

It's not a map - the artwork you're referring to is Ambridge itself.
Everyone featured in The Archers is two dimensional hence they inhabit this curious flatland of a place.
Interesting fact - the average length of a character in The Archers is 1.2mm.
Cornelius (of blessed memory) once pointed out that in some fairly recent editing of the "official" map the scale had been inadvertently altered and that this has introduced an extra degree of uncertainty about the distances between well known Ambridge landmarks.
And that's without considering the fact that features and buildings tend to wander around the landscape.
The SWs might know nothing about the behaviour of snakes, but you'd think there'd be a definitive answer to how big Ambridge is.
I hope you're enjoying Norfolk too, Mike, and not finding those launderettes too racy
My opponent played Bird's opening against me this morning but so far nobody has tried the Snake.

Anyone know what happened to him? Is he still here, using a different name?
