Is anyone else finding topics they've not subscribed to turning up in their 'Your discussions' section? And has anyone any advice on how to stop this happening? I unsubscribe and they disappear, then a new one appears the next day.

    Any advice anyone?

    Thanks
    TC

A quick peek in your discussions list suggests that you are subscribed to the Village Hall topic (at least).

Have you ever used "the script"? 'cos that gives you the ability to subscribe & unsubscribe from whole topics (eg: The Bull, The Village Hall etc).

If you are for some reason subscribed to a whole topic and don't have the script's buttons to unsubscribe then..

If you want to unsubscribe from:

    - DisTA, try this link:
    - Omnibus:
    - N&Q, try this link:
    - FA, try this link:
    - The Bull, try this link:
    - The Village Hall, try this link:
    - The Bull Upstairs, try this link:

Sounds like you've not signed out
    and left your access open.
Can anyone else access your computer?

    Thanks Jont

I think I have inadvertently subscribed to being updated to new threads on TVH. Clicking on the link you gave me seems to have worked. I will have a closer look at it to see how I did it - so I don't do it again.

Thanks also Librarian - but no-one else has access - so Jont's suggestion seems to hit the mark,

Heigh-ho, off to furtle around a bit to see how to subscribe [or, more importantly, not]to whole topics.

    Cheers
    TC

    Hey TC!

After posting that I decided that I'm not entirely convinced by my explanation.. but only you can really tell by seeing how your discussions list unfolds.. and using the unsubscribe links I gave above would likely be a good first step to resolving the problem anyway.

Unless you at one stage had access to the script then I /think/ that *accidently* subscribing is unlikely.. I don't know of a system provided facility that makes that easy.

If you look at the "unsubscribe" URLs I posted above then you can see the command "unsubscribethread", if you change that to "subscribethread" then that's how you can subscribe to a whole board.. you can use it on individual threads too (so long as the URL also contains the thread ID as a parameter eg:
    HTTP://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbarchers/FSB2693942?thread=4916540&cmd=subscribethread ( for this thread)

But I do use the script most of the time....

I subscribed to a couple of new TVH threads recently, and then unsubscribed, but continued to get a couple of new threads each time I logged on, which were mostly new ones. I unsubscribed each time, then they disappeared, only to be replaced with something else the next time I loggged on.

Since i clicked on the link you gave me they have stopped. I think I must have clicked on the subscribe button, which I have now noticed at the top of TVH.

    Thanks for your help
    TC

Sorry, I obviously wasn't paying attention when I read your message 4.

Yeah.. as you may have noticed, beside each [subscribe] link is an [unsubscribe] link.

Of course you would've known all this had you read the help pages

Well I did try to RTFM, honest! - what I had not noticed, and I know I should have - was that you could subscribe to a whole topic, as well as a specific thread. I promise to read more carefully next time.....
