Just think - they could have been called Robin and Marion, having Archer for a surname.
'Shula' - Arabic, 'flame'. Could this be an obscure reference to Grace ?
'Kenton'- Old English, 'royal place'. Peak of popularity in the early 1960's.

Does anyone know any in RL?
But don't you think Phil and Jill are silly names too?
< Does anyone know any in RL? >
I don't personally, but the wife of a school chum of my OH's told me she has a friend called Shula after the Saintly one.
There was also a real Shula on R4 some years ago. IIRC she was a South African journalist. So maybe it is also coincidentally an African name?

Could it be a variant of Shola, which is an African name?
sk
I'd always assumed "Shula" was biblical in origin - a shortened version of "Shulamit"
I've come across "Shula" when in Israel

Shula is Hebrew for "cow's vomit".
Snork, Mike!

And Kenton's name comes from two Anglo-Saxon words which roughly mean 'absolute brick' (not a typo btw).
There is a road called Kenton Road close to Earley Station (near Reading). He must have been called after that. (It was there before he was born.)

Shula is from an old sandskrit word meaning 'to suck the joy out of living' (verb)
