She is the woman talking to Alan about the pews last week - but I must have missed the episode when she was introduced and she's not in the Who's Who. Who is she, and what's her role in the church or elsewhere?

She's Alan's new boss (the Archdeacon). She appeared previously in the vicars visit Brookfield episode.

what is she?
What is Sylvia? I thought she was a woman not a breed unless there is a dog/doll or other inanimate humanoid object/Christened farm animal with that name. Is there more than one Sylvia in Ambridge and its environs?

'Who is Sylvia, what is she?', a well known love song for 'older' people.
You may be able to find someone to sing it to you!
There is a tea dance type event (not usually my thing if you'll excuse the pun) arranged in the next village soon so I might ask about it there but really I've never heard of such a thing.
I've just googled it but haven't really found anything, do you mean Sylvia Syms or I found something about Ethel Merman singing something about a Sylvia, could that be it? More information would be greatly appreciated, this has got my investigative juices flowing as it were.
