  I have no legal background and have followed the Kathy SL with horrified fascination. I think Hedli's done a cracking job BTW with the SL. In the light of recent posts on loads of threads by lawyers, does anyone know if the following post (representative of many on the subject) is correct? If so, why is Kathy's case different? I confess to spitting nails that this action of Owen isn't getting to court.
  
  
  "What has annoyed me about the TA portrayal are the inaccurate aspects that would depress any possible victims when the writing has no relationship to reality. The top example recently has been not allowing the 'witness intimidation' facts to come out unless, oops, Kathy happens to mention it.
  Witness Intimidation is now a perfectly common charge added to the same trial where it is alleged. Even if it wasn't, it is utterly, utterly ludicrous to suggest - as logically must have happened here - that prosecution counsel and CPS lawyer have had a conference with the police/witness support and said 'hee hee, we can't mention it but tip the wink to the witness, then we'll get it in - by the way, would you mind recording this as evidence for when we're struck off?'. a. you would already have told the judge you're asking about this aspect b. in the (totally unrealistic) situation he'd disallowed it, you're stuck with it.
  This kind of sloppy writing does make the law seem like a game. It is fictitous. I'm all in favour of leeway for entertainment, but people trust R4 on important issues like this and have been let down."
