Maybe I am naive, or just obtuse, but how does anyone get a job after they have changed their name? Surely their P45 and N.I.No. would not correspond with their new name. I know you can be known by any name you want to, but I don't think I would trust someone who had changed their name. Wasn't this noticed when he started at The Bull and became Owen King?
Changing your name isn't difficult. If you sign on in a Jobcentre and tell you want to be known as [ fill in required name ] that is what will be on your P45 when you leave unemployment to take work. Presumably you can do the same if you're employed. Your NI number doesn't change, but employers wouldn't have access to the National Insurance computer records to see any other names you might previously have used.
