another "longer-ago" query.
There are apparently *six* church bells at "Steve's."
Have you been researching away and found out that you can't do a quarter peel with six bells or something, Rosie?

It's in Smethurst's Official
It's now a ring of eight. Two bells were added... was it the Millennium? (It's Friday evening, so I can't check quickly)
Sounds rather expensive. How were the funds raised?
It wasn't the going up and down steeples with Lynda wearing posh lingerie dressed as a Faberge egg was it surely?

Yes, the two Millennium bells (named after Tom and Pru) were cast in September 1999 in an East London Foundry, but the original query was, how many bells the church had in Neil and Shula's bell-ringing days (and Mr. Booth), wasn't it?

Neil and Shula's bell-ringing days (and Mr. Booth)Â
Neil and Shula still ring the bells, don't they, or did Shula stop at some point?
Shula's still doing it isn't she (didn't P&J mention it on P's birthday)?
So's Neil.
this was a query about when they /used/ to bellring, how many in the team, and how many bells, before that fisher woman added the millennium bells.
I'm sorry I bothered now.
Oh I was just replying to Mike's post Rosie, I have no idea how many bells there are now let alone used to be in the old days.

Think Chris Carter rings as well
As I said, it was a ring of six. Bit confusing to talk about Neil and Shula's days as they are still ringers, as is Neville Booth.

Sorry you were confused, Keri. As I say, sorry i bothered to reply to the original enquirer, as well.
As they last Rang a Quarter Peal of Stedman Triples for Phil's birthday, they most certainly have 8 bells, as that method has 7 "inside" bells, plus the tenor behind. Quite impressive to be able to ring Stedman with a local band in a village. Neil must be a great conductor and Tower Captain!
Chris Carter's first peal was also Stedman Triples - even more impressive for a village band to be able to ring full peals of Stedman!
There's a batch of letters about this in the current issue of Ringing World (now why hasn't that featured as the Guest Publication in HIGNFY yet?)
