Peckham - what was that strange two-beeps-from-a-time-signal?
Please explain, Mr Keri, Sir.
Bear
I seem to recall that some rogue pips escaped a few months back and took refuge in TA. Have they got out again?

Rogue Pips in TA? Bring it on -the Pip we've got is far too prim.
From what we were told last time this happened, the pips are sent every 15 minutes but only transmitted on the hour. Someone forgot to switch off the mic for the pips so that the next time they were sent they were heard by the world at large.
My heart pines to think that the poor little pips are kept locked up and only allowed out once an hour.
Did anyone hear the programme "in the countryside" or something like that when they took the pips for a walk.

Yes, I thought it was brilliant, especially when the newsreaders described what they looked like - the pips I mean.
Yes, it was one of the few episodes of Ramblings I actually listened to, and wasn't disappointed. Especially when Brian Perkins (I think) described the pips as the six best colleagues he'd ever worked with, and all teh other continuity announcers said "OooooooH". After they got he point.
The "most reliable" I think it was.
I had the unusual experience of being in the open plan office next to the Radio 4 continuity office when that programme was transmitted, so I was overhearing the people behind these famous voices reacting to hearing themselves as themsleves on the radio.
If you see what I mean.

How did the Pips react?
In a timely fashion, of course.

They left on a midnight train to Georgia.
I expect you're right Mr. Keri. Thank you. (I've been away from the computer for a bit)

This may be David's knee-jerk reaction to Jonathan, but I suspect that the many manifestations of his daughter might have a case [or six] to bring in a cruelty court.
Talking of which - SIX Pips? - and the last one longer than the others?
