Dear Mr Keri
When I am writing a message (as I am doing right now) I very much appreciate the underling that happens when I make a spelling mistake (as I so frequently do).
However, it upsets me no end when words such as labour, realise, tyre etc are underlined. Now I know that I can get a bit paranoid at times, but even I still thought that Auntie was still the British Broadcasting Corporation not the US Broadcasting Corporation.
Why is the dictionary an American one? Even Word (which is an American product) allows us to have an English English dictionary, so why not the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú?
Many thanks
NEW
the underling that happens when I make a spelling mistake I do not believe that this is a feature of the message boards, but of the browser you are using. FireFox is supposed to do this, but doesn't for me ...

Considering the amount of appalling spelling that occurs on the boards I sincerely doubt that a spelling corrector is built in! There is doubtless some bit on your computer which you can adjust to obtain the language (region) of your choice but not being a techie sort I can help you no further. I certainly have no spelling corrector of any sort active when I'm on these boards and would surely find it very irritating if I did... Good luck in disposing of this irritation (but I'm afraid the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú isn't going to be much help to you in this case)

I have never seen this, don't think it is a feature of the boards.

If you are using Firefox, you can go to Tools, Options, Advanced, General, Languages and select your dictionary.
Something similar is bound to be available in other browsers too.
I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the message board. Good luck!

NewEssexWoman, as others have said, this has to do with your browser or possibly with your toolbar (Google Toolbar?). I don't think the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú provides a spell check service.

It happens to me in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox. Actually, now I come to think of it, I don't think it does when I post at work (which naturally, I never do) but it does when I use it at home.
So yes, not Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.

NEW it's definitely your browser, not the MB software: the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú has no idea what you are writing until you have sent your message.
As Janie says above, Firefox offers a British, American or Australian English dictionary as an Add-0n. Otherwise you could type your message in Word then cut&paste into the reply window.

Aw,,, wanna spellchecker.. even American.
Thanks to everyone for this and apologies to Mr K. I do use Firefox and I've checked my dictionary which is English/UK, so I'm still not quite sure what's going on. But I'll complain no more 'cos I certainly don't want to upset those of you who don't have any spell checking!
