I know I'm probably being either very dense or very forgetful, but what exactly are Ruth and David going to do with the railway sleepers, and why?
Friday 1st August
Ruth is still excited about the idea of keeping the cows out. The farm she has been visiting looks really great. It will mean dividing up the fields and introducing more water supplies. And they need more tracks - concrete railway sleepers seem to be the thing.
Thank-you, Rosie, I knew you would know.
Not for the tree house, then?

Concrete treehouses would be too dangerous for children, maybe?
The question was asked in jest.....
....mind you, they are sometimes known as the dopeys........

Wooden railway sleepers are now rather expensive I believe, and as UK stocks have long run out, are imported.
Unless they're getting a load of cracked old concrete ones.

Sorry, I managed not to read the bit about them being concrete on Rosie's erudite post - been away and trying to catch up with the minutae, whilst listening.

I seem to remember that, because wooden railway sleepers spent decades marinating in a toxic cocktail of creosote, oil and weed-killer you don't want them near anything - let alone livestock.
