what is a Remoska ? It is often mentioned on these MBs
, in reply to message 1.
This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
And it comes from Botswana.
I am probably missing a joke here, but a Remoska is a counter-top cooking pot/appliance. Try Googling it.
I have asked on several occasions that people do not give jokey answers to questions posed in Notes and Queries.
It undermines the credibilty of the topic, and reduces the confidence of new users who may wish to ask something.
Thank you.

But it isn't a query about the programme, or about the message board, is it?
But it isn't a query about the programme, or about the message board, is it? Ìý
Exactly.
If Mr Pocket really wanted to know what a remoska is, he should have googled.
Mr Keri, I think it is OK to stick up for newbies on the Notes and Queries and make sure that they are taken seriously.
But Mr Pocket?
And a remoska?
I think message 2 was spot on and all he deserved.

In which case it might be nice to be allowed to read it.
Why ask here? There are 2 threads currently about remoskas over in TB which go into considerable detail. That's why I answered in a jokey way.
does anyone have a link to the original thread about Remoskas? I missed it but have seen it referred to and thought it might make interesting reading...

These are only the latest R word threads - there are loads going far back into MB history.
common civility, surely, never goes amiss (IMHO)

Very dificult not to be facetious/sarcastic where Mr P. is concerned, he actively invites it.

have to agree I thought the reaction to Mr P here was a bit harsh....
(and we have had a set-to or two in the past)

Common civility might have meant a few seconds reading what this part of the messageboard is about:
"Do you have a question about The Archers, or about this message board?"
Quite, Rosie.
Pocksie knows perfectly well what a Remoska is.
If he was going to pretend not to know, he should have posted this in TB.
I have asked on several occasions that people do not give jokey answers to questions posed in Notes and Queries.
Ìý
What about asking people not to ask jokey questions?
These 'jokey' questions take the **** out of Notes and Queries even more so than 'jokey' answers which take it out of individual posters.

All these responses make sense from the point of view of users familiar with this message board and its users.
If I were a newcomer reading the early responses I would have found them very off-putting, which is not the response we aim for here, particularly not in N&Q.
although I am not a newcomer, I am still, none the wiser about the Remoska issue and as you have observed, do see some of the responses as offensive; rather, intended to be so, IMHO.

It is a hob cooker:
AFAIK there was a thread long ago about Remoskas (or Ramotskas) which led to a lot of argument along the lines of linen versus paper napkins. This is my interpretation from reading comments since, I did not see the original thread. Since then it seems to have a bit of a reputation, but people still swap recipees for it from time to time.

Noes and Queries: Do you have a question about The Archers - on air, or behind the scenes?
And I get more than "fed up" at the posters who do not observe this.
