Is it the scriptwriter? Tonights says 'David sees Joe casing Bert's garden'.
Casing? What burgalars do before robbing a house? Sounds very un-SW like!

No, they are written by the broadcast assistant who works on the episodes in studio. We have fairly recently imposed a 200-word limit, partly to encourage concise phraseology, but also so that the synoposis can be used on platforms such as Freeview, so it may be that some details willnot be mentioned. I agree that this plot point was quite a big "detail", though.
