Answers to many common questions about this message board – for example: 'Why is it called Mustardland?' 'Where did Shula and Kenton get their names?' 'How do I quote text in boxes?' – can be found in the Archers message board FAQs.
You can reach the FAQs by clicking on 'FAQs and Info' at the bottom of the menu on the left of this page (or indeed any page on this board), and then on 'Message board FAQs' from the menu at the top right of the page you are taken to.
If you have a question which isn't covered by the FAQ section, then of course feel free to ask other posters here.
(Have just started this new thread because there are still a lot of questions appearing in N&Q which could be helped by the FAQs. Please bump this thread every few days to keep it visible.)

'Who is Matthew Gemmel' seems to be fast catching 'how did Shula and Kenton get their names' as the most frequently asked question.
How did Shula and Kenton get theit names, btw?

Please read the FAQs.
Bump.
And you'll know what that means if you've read the FAQs!
Snork. That's in there too.
Thassorl - that's a funny one.
What's all this talk of catpees then?

I am beginning to think that Mincey deserves an entry all to herself. Fame of sorts.

Have this one on me.
Find out all about *me* in the FAQs.
Me me me.
Me me me, it's all about me.
Yours annoyingly,
The Fleaâ„¢
Lots of effort went into the FAQs. It is only polite to read them.
But be warned, they take considerably longer than 3 minutes to read.
Bump.

Why is it called Mustardland?
After you've found out (or before) can you give this a bump?
Like this.....

In the good old days of proper mustardland you could bump a message as you actually replied to a specific message and everyone could see the train of the responses to a posting unlike the current way of doing things which just dumps the meassge at the end of the string of messages so you have to guess what a poster is responding to unless they cut and past the original message into there reply. Oh well and some call this progress. To be fair Kerrie did their best to let us keep most of the features of the old boards. I mean we do not even get to see how may post we have made now unlike the old board where you coul dtell imediately if some one had been posting for a whike or just joined.

This was one of the worst features of the old boards, in my view: when I first started posting I was 'bullied' off the boards by a few 'old hands' who said things of the nature of 'how dare you young whipper-snapper come and bother us who have been posting for ages'. In any case, it could only tell you how many posts a certain log-in had made, not a certain person: some posters famously kept re-registering to keep their posting numbers low in protest at this system.
Welcome back to the boards, by the way.

Where has the abbreviations nicknames etc section of the FAQs gone? The bit which would tell you what a Worat is, and who Baspofald is.

The abbreviations sections disappeared a few weeks ago for unknown reasons. Keri is currently working on getting them back up there. (The HTML files have disappeared, so he's having to get the original files I supplied coded once again, so that they'll appear correctly, which takes a bit of time.)

I see. I can't get radio reception where I am (must get a digital one to try) and have little patience with iPlayer. I have got the email synopsiseseses, but it isn't the same. What I'm trying to say, an unnecessary length, is that as a result I haven't been as regular as I used to be (if you'll pardon the expression!) so have missed any changes. Thought they might have been removed for some official reason, but it looks like a Worat infestation after all.
In the meantime the abbreviations are here, in the archived FAQs.

Thanks to the Flea for posting the archive link. I hadn't known this was available.
It doesn't actually allow you to jump to the abreviations pages, for some reason, so here are direct links:

Nicknames of Archers characters and related terms:
Hope that helps.

Oh, sorry jane.
I've been meaning to send you an e-mail about it, actually.
My old name didn't seem to make much sense any more because The Stirchley Kid isn't in here much these days.
