On the character page for Kenton, it says at the bottom "Doesn't get on with Debbie Aldridge - they're complete opposites".

I seem to remember Kenton and Debbie being bosom buddies when he came back from Australia, after she'd broken up with Simon. He used to pop round when she was holed up in her cottage, and he was about the only person she could bear to see.

Have I remembered this completely wrongly, or has there been a bust-up between the two of them since then, or is the comment on Kenton's page inaccurate?

    'Ö'

Doesn't everybody get on with Debbie?

I can't think of anyone who now dislikes her, since she and Adam buried the hatchet?

I'm sure I've heard them being very friendly, and don't remember any bust-up in the last 5 years.

My recollection is the same. Didn't Adam think that they might be more than 'just good friends' about the time Debbie was having HIV tests post Simon?

As I recall it Kenton was supportive of Debbie after the breakup of Debbie's marriage (and Kenton/Katrhy were going through a bad patch ... Kathy seemed rather jealous of Debbie).

Then Debbie went away (to France) for a year. When she returned Kenton went to see her but received a brush off as she clearly preferred to spend tome with her darling bro (newly returned from Africa).

The bit in the character info is a bit puzzling, although I suppose it could refer to the last bit.

Did she ever make it up with Elizabeth after posting her card back, torn up and in bits. (Elizabeth too dim to notice she had also wiped her bottom with it before sending).

Kenton resented Nelson taking Debbie into the antiques business, but that was a long long time ago.

yes iirc Kenton was a bit flirtatious with Debbie [well she needed a boost in self-esteem and why not?] When he began to run our of lfodgings with his immediate family I think he slept on Debbie's couch a few times so Adam passed him coming out of the front door at interesting times of day.

< Doesn't everybody get on with Debbie? >

I read that as 'Doesn't everybody get on Debbie?'

I remember the Kenton/Debbie being chums post Simon bit and Madam coming in from the cold in Africa.

I don't remember the Elizabeth thing though, what was that all about?

Elizabeth knew all about Brian + Siobhan + Ruari, though I can't remember exactly when she got the full picture. It was at Lower Loxley that Debbie first saw the Bab, who looked just like Alice, and his monogrammed hanky [one of Brian's.] Not surprisingly, Debbie felt a bit betrayed.

    Friday 7th June 2002
    * At Lower Loxley, Nigel, Elizabeth and Siobhán and Nigel talk about his birthday plans for tomorrow - there are none so far!. Whatever it is,he wants a surprise. When he goes Elizabeth is more than apologetic to Siobhan over the fact that she wasn't around to support her with the miscarriage scare last week. Siobhán reassures her, saying how much Tim had helped then lets slip that Brian is the father. We don't know who is more appalled, and she pleads with Elizabeth not to tell anyone

"Debbie answers the door to - Kenton; that's a surprise. Adam is hot on his heels but Debbie makes it unambigously clear that Kenton is not welcome to stay and renew Adam's acquaintance. They must have a drink sometime. Debbie explains that they had cried on each other's shoulder and that was ok until he wanted to move in. Adam puts two and two together, makes five and recommends that she has an HIV test (in view of her husband's multiple infidelity) before getting involved with anyone else."

    "Thursday 20th March
At Home Farm, Elizabeth brings the bill for Siobhán's removals over for Brian, so he writes her a cheque. As he hands it over, Debbie walks in. When it is evident what is happening, Debbie launches into a tirade of abuse towards Elizabeth, accusing her of total betrayal in that she still has contact with THAT woman - even to the extent of calling Elizabeth a lying two-faced cow. Brian orders Elizabeth to leave, after which Debbie turns on him, accusing him of still carrying on with Siobhán and that nothing has changed."
    "18th April
Elizabeth has received back the card she sent to Debbie - in bits. Dreadful, says Nigel - they neither of them can understand it.
    ...
Ruth broaches the subject of Midsummer Meadow/Woodbine Cottage - she doesn't want a repeat of the row at Pip's party on Phil's birthday, neither does Elizabeth want a repeat of the twin's Christening. She rather aggressively suggests that David should be the one to be lectured and Ruth tells her that she already has tackled David about it. Elizabeth agrees to back off if David will, so that they can all hopefully have a nice relaxed evening. She explains that somehow her feelings of loss over Debbie's friendship make everything else seem irrelevant - Brian has a lot to answer for over his affair with Siobhán and she hopes he thinks about that sometimes!

Thank you all - now I do remember Elizabeth being chummy with Shiv., just not the Debs bit.

Still don't but may have nodded off during the omnibus which I tend to do if I have gone back to bed to listen to it.
