Shula has always been a pain in the neck, but can somebody please tell me when she underwent the three year training, attended her 1st admission and licesning service at the cathedral and subsequently the triennial relicensing to be a member of the Reader Ministry (once called Lay Reader)? Afterall in an interegnum or the absence of a Parish Priest (or Vicar where such titles still remain) the Churchwarden is responsible for arranging officiants, although of course a Reader should be used for non-consecrational worship at all times.
Added to which one attends church to worship God rather than enjoy the service --- we hope all are comforatble in their worship, but it should invigorate one's faith.
And, as a side step Hindus had the 1st known book long predating the abraham faiths

    A long time ago.

Not being flippant, but I've been working with or on The Archers since 1991, and it predates that. She has always been a Reader in my time.

I've listened to the programme throughout it's history although work used to mean missing the odd programmes, and had a small contact before the programme went on air
The one interested in Readership that I recall was Marjorie Antrobus. There was also discussionj of other lay ministries
May we presume then, as you say shwe has long been an Anglican Reader that with the 40th anniversary of women's admission to Readership, there will be appropriate content for Madam Shula and that she will be having her trinennail review and/or be relinquishing her liscense to Alan?
