I know this obsession with podcasts upsets some posters, but anyway, Thursday's podcast is yet to appear.
Podcasts are SO unreliable. Either The Archers provides podcasts, or they don't. Often they don't.

Ah, and how I so missed the opertunity to rant!!
No surprise, how many days did you get before ineptidude reared it's ugly head again!
Maybe we ought to start a competition as to how many days you guys can go without failing us podcasters.
I wonder what your record is as I write, but Keri you really should know that in the REAL WORLD this performance would by now be amply rewarded by P45's all round.
And please do not tell me about temperate or otherwise, you live in a world that is shielded from the harsh reallities and for that you must deliver or bear the consequences!
As a matter of interest, I subscribe to many Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú websites and most of them have this Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Audience research questionaire where we are given the opertunity to air our views, how come that I have not seen it here. It might be an idea to email them and ask them the same question or even call them, as they left their number which is 01489 772920 or log onto their website at
Do I now have your undivided attention?
I adore the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú and am the biggest fan that you can imagine, unfortunately this service really does leave a "Grand Canyon" of grief in it's wake and that is unacceptable and I am sure that in a private momment that you would agree that it is not. Sort it.
I've asked before, but can someone explain the process how the podcast is published? Is the regular failure because there is someone who can't be bothered? Is it technical? Please enlighten us.
…in the REAL WORLD this performance would by now be amply rewarded by P45's all roundÂ
…unless you happen to be in banking, of course
Oh - sorry! - you did say the real world!

Of course - the podcast loader would have been retired from a bank on a pension of £500,000 per annum.
beaucastel I don't think it is Keri's job to either load the podcast or to organise the technical staff, though it is [probably] part of his remit to soothe ruffled feathers. Iirc he said last week that there was now a system in place for checking first thing in the morning that it had been published, presumably at the Archers production office.

The most reliable way of listening to TA after it has been broadcast is via the iPlayer.
Having moaned about these issues extensively, I will concede that it's now pretty slick (the iPlayer), and very rarely fails.
Obviously, if you want to listen via your 'portable MP3 player' as it would no doubt be described, you need a Podcast, and if that's not working, then that's no help.
The LA link from TA home page is still pretty unreliable, I think most people LAing just go straight to the iPlayer now.
I listen to Test Match Special and it NEVER fails to publish within minutes of the end of play.
The comparison is truly aweful, it is beyond words and enough is enough.
You at the Archers should hang you heads in shame because you are taking our hard earned cash with an absolute lack of concience!
Shame on YOU!!

But TMS is by definition a one-off (well, five-off) programme, with uncertain finish times so the publishing *has* to be done manually.
We know, 'cause Keri has told us, that TA podcasts are published automatically, and that the publishing system is being revamped at the moment (well, it was 'in the new year' about six months ago).
Not creeping, I've contributed some fairly bilious comments along the lines of yours before, but things are getting better.

I'm one of those who contribute to the podcast complaint threads, but I do understand the posters who are upset because these threads seem to dominate N&Q.
Perhaps we should have just ONE running thread about podcasts, and just add to that one when there is a problem. Then the other posters can avoid that thread.
It's there now.

Leaping Badger has twice attempted to set up dedicated threads for non-published versions and routes to complain. This is current:

Yes if it's advertised it should be there but if it isn't the sky will not fall in. I frequently hear only odd bits or go days without being near a radio/ being able to find my radio and it doesn't fill me with the need to see heads roll. For me the Brigadoon element is all part of my experience of Ambridge.
