But you could send a donation to a (real-life) charity of your choice if you feel so inclined.

Oh how could you? You'll be claiming the tooth fairy and Santa Claus are make-believe too! You seem to forget that there is a fine line between reality and fiction: Corrie and Deadenders - fiction; TA and The News - Fact. Now lead me back to Waterloo, I have a battle to win!

    Hello all,

This is my first message on the 'boards. It has been Usha's marathon progress which has drawn me into the Ambridge world, but my query is threefold:

    1. When are we going to hear how she got on? If I remember rightly it was only the other day she was struggling with the training. How long did she take?

    2. As a first-time-marathon finisher myself, Sunday was such an overwhelming experience I want to hear more about it. Why has the plot been so cursorily dealt with?

    3. In case anybody wants to sponsor Usha, I'd gladly take on a proxy donation! I'm only half-joking - I ran for the Neurofibromatosis Association. It was my first experience of any kind of endurance or even sport generally. All I can say is: I had to develop an obsession and let it take over my life; give up smoking; run in the dark, the snow, stay safe; feel terrified for a week before, emotional throughout and elated after; be proud to have helped people with Nf because too few people know about it; enjoy immense solidarity with all the other slowcoaches; endure constant nausea and dehydration in the sun; enjoy the fantastic support of people cheering me on and shouting my name through each and every 26 miles - and 5hrs 57 minutes of running, and walking, on knives.

But it was *so* worth it! I'm desperate to hear how Usha coped with it, even if it was Felpersham and not London. 26.2 miles is still 26.2 miles!

With warm best wishes and *very* stiff legs,

    Cathryn Setz, London

Well done & congrats for your own efforts & achievement, RC!

Usha finished, and slowed herself down to help Annabelle (who developed a knackered knee) over the last few miles. Every nauseating second can be relived if you go to the "catch up" tag & listen again.

Unfortunately that means you will also have to tolerate some dire scenes between David & Pip, and some of the loudest & most off-putting hootin' and a hollerin' from Ruth that we have had to suffer in many months. While most episodes last about 12 minutes, Sunday's seemed to last about an hour.

If you think that this plot has been dealt with in a cursory manner, I can only suggest that you have been listening to other things for the last few months. Speaking for at least a large minority if not a majority, of posters/listeners, the relief that the Felpersham marathon is over is not limited to being felt only by Usha & Annabelle!
