Sounds interesting! making and Effect

  I am teaching a Y7 class and want to teach them about the joys of radio drama. There was a TV programme about the sound effects on the Archers. Can anyone help me with the name of the programme and how I might get hold of it to show the students. They are all very keen and have lots of great ideas. But we need to know how to make the sound effects properly.

  There was an Arena TV programme recently (last year, I beleive) that showcased The Archers. There was a short segment in that film that showed sound effects being used/performed.
  
  
  You could try to locate a copy of that programme.
  
  
  If you click The Archers (top of the list on the left of the page) then click Backstage News you can search through the stories and find one that deals with sound effects here

  If you can't get hold of the programme about TA, you could investigate the series of short (5 or 10 mins each) films made by Channel 4 called 'Supporting Acts', if I remember correctly. These cover various behind-the-scenes jobs in the film industry. I'm fairly certain they'd have covered sound effects, perhaps in a programme either about sound design or special effects.

  The "Supporting Acts" you'll want is called "Foley Artist". (That's what sound effects people are known as in the movies...)
