Long time lurker, but I've emerged because of the metal detector SL. My OH works in archaeology, and he keeps shouting 'Portable Antiquities Scheme' at the radio when Eddie is metal detecting.

I thought Robert might find something about it while he was online, but nothing was mentioned.

I wondered if this might be brought up in the SL? It would be nice to have a positive story about responsible metal detecting and the benefits of reporting things to the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

    Thanks!

Welcome, Jenn not Jenny, and hope you're looking forward to endless happy hours as a poster!

Yes, Robert would be a good person to have mentioning this scheme. Jenny (not Jenn) ought to know something about it too, given her fascination with all matters archaeological; so perhaps she could alert Eddie and Joe. (Joe kept quiet about his diggings in the map episode, so I suppose she couldn't have been expected to speak then.)

    My first post..
It is good to see someone involved with Archaeology praise the responsible detectorist. Thank you. I have not been following this particular program for some years but it has certainly got my attention now.
