These queries always facinate me. Is the questioner someone who last turned their wireless on in the 1950s and has recently found TA on their computer? How did they miss young Miss Grey marrying wealthy Charles Grenville, being widowed, then marrying the dapper John Tregorran? Mind you, the Beeb did its best to rid itself of is TA audience during that period by switching frequencies, timing of broadcasts, boring plotlines, etc.
Maybe we're all part of a 50's version of "Life on Mars"/"Ashes to Ashes" without knowing it.

If we are, let's call it "The Laughing Gnome".
Oh yes, Peet, great idea (you wouldn't have been thinking of any particular character to prompt that particular Bowie song, now would you?).

Sadly, he never did a song called "The Mooning Gnome"...
Last time I asked the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú I was told that John and Carol were living peacefully somewhere - Jill sent them a card last Christmas!

They live in Bristol, allegedly.
That's right Mike. The became members of the 'silent ones', who visited Ambridge occasionally, but were never heard. When eventually John did speak again....it wasn't John at all, but an imposter!
That's trouble with us with long memories.
