Is there any particular reason why Mike and Vicky are not getting married in the Ambridge Church.
Um ... possibly they don't want to.

We've had no on-air reference to Vicky having spiritual leanings, while Mike is not, in my recollection at least, renowned for the regularity of his attendance at services at St Steves, or any other church.
In such a case, a church wedding would be somewhat inappropriate, surely?
If they HAD wanted to get married in church, would Mike's non-attendance have been a problem?

Only if he (sensibly, IMHO) decided not to attend for the wedding.
Snork!
Can you get married by proxy?
bob
I think Henry VIII married Anne of Cleeves by proxy.
"Since the early 20th century it has been most commonly used for marriages involving members of the military on active duty."
