Will Debbie's real father be brought back if she gets married? Could he be a new friend for Lilian?

You are correct, Mabs.
He didn't attend her wedding to Simon G, did he?
Lilian was not best pleased when Roger transferred his affections. There was considerably rivalry between the sister when they were young Borchester Grammar pupils.
did Lilian get into grammar school?
Well someone in another thread said Lil didn't get much education and left school at 14. (Which was illegal by that time, but possibly still Normal For Borsetshire.)
If so, will the fact that he was responsible for the road accident which killed Mark Hebden(Shula's then husband, Daniel's father) & seriously injuring Caroline Bone ( scuppering her forthcoming marriage to then vicar Robin) ever be revealed?

Responsible in what way? As I remember it Mark drove too fast round the bend and spooked Caroline's horse, losing control and ploughing into a tree. Caroline fell off the horse and hit her head. Nobody else directly involved...
Or is my memory hazy?
I seem to remember that Mark was swerving to avoid Caroline's horse which had gone out of control due to another car which had just sped past them. They never found out who was driving the other car, AFAIR.

Ah, OK, yes. That makes sense. Somehow I had remembered that it was Mark who was speeding, but on reflection he was far too boring for that.
And Mark was talking to Shula on his mobile at the time.

Ooh yes, I'd forgotten that salient point, LJG.

He was always my chief suspect for driver of the Mystery Vehicle (and, so I discovered later, my parents' suspect too). Perhaps we should re-open the inquiry? ineverforget, with a name like yours, perhaps you'd be willing to lead the investigation?

There is little point in doing this because (as Keri admitted long ago) the SWs don't know who the other car driver was. (So they would have to make something up about the past and then we wouldn't believe it anyway.)

And Darwin forbid that scripties should "make things up."
Why did Caroline's injury prevent her marrying Robin?
(All this is before my time)

It didn't, but her intimations of mortality made her re-assess things. Caroline is an agnostic, if not an atheist, and I think that she decided that there were some fundamental divisions between herself and Robin.

She is an atheist.

Quite so, Rosie.
