Is there any kind person who would explain to me what Matt and Chalky are actually accused of? I was in a non-listening phase at the time it all blew up. And it seems as though Brenda is involved somehow, but I can't figure out why.
Many thanks in anticipation
Terry

Im a bit vague too but I think the gist is that they applied for a very large loan from the bank and told whopping great porky pies about the solvency state of their company.
So basic fraud.

He co-signed a letter with Chalkman telling the bank that the company finances were healthy, when he and Chalkman both knew they were two million in the hole. Brenda overheard them arguing about it after the fact.

Thanks for your replies, Sixties Relic and Peet. Matt is evidently not such an injured innocent as he's been making out, then.

I seem to remember that when the thing first blew up Matt made the point, very forcibly, that Chalky was the majority shareholder in the company and as such was mainly responsible for running it. I think he negotiated the loan and Matt co-signed the documents.
Doesn't make Matt innocent but it does put the major culpability on Chalky.
I think that the precise point was that they signed a statement on the loan application that there had been no significant change in the company's financial position since the last accounts. Someone had defaulted on a £1m loan from C3PIO and that is considered to be a major financial blow.
