I asked the following question in DA yesterday but got roundly ignored. Possibly I posted it in The Wrong Thread then, possibly even The Wrong Board so have retreated in here to ask it again. Cause I know the good helpful folk who hang around in here don't do ignoring. Well, up till now then...
So here it is:

Just to amuse/inform me a wee bit after this drivel, can anyone tell me how long Susan got when she was locked up? For comparative purposes, like, innit?

Six months.
And she had it extended by 10 days or a fortnight for skipping out and attending Mark Hebden's funeral and fighting with a fellow prisoner.

6 months actual time inside?
(Thanks btw.)
Harbouring your violent criminal brother or embezzling millions. Comparable crimes? I'll have to go and have a wee think about this - not sure if I have an actual opinion as yet but who knows what I may come up with.

Sentenced to 6 months (on xmas eve, as well0, served, I think 3 plus the etra 10 days.
And there was a general feeling amongst many people at the time that the sentence was somewhat harsh.

well, yes. I think I think it was a bit harsh. Just as I think I think that Matt's sentence is a bit non-harsh. Comparatively speaking then. But being no expert on sentencing norms I'm not going as far as forming an actual cast iron opinion as yet and am sticking to the 'I think I think' formula for now.

If you listen to the series of programmes Laurie Taylor is currently doing on white collar crime and fraud you'll realise how long the odds were on Matt and Chalky being prosecuted in the first place.
Many others thought it harsh too - "Free the Ambridge One" was a slogan which was seen on Eastenders!
Mind you, she did harbour one of the violent armed robbers who held up the same post office at which she is now the postmistress. Memories are short in soap history.

Clive bullied, intimidated and threatened her into sheltering him and helping him to escape. Susan knew she was doing wrong but was terrified of him.
Coincidentally I have just posted on DTA that this episode cemented Mark Hebden's reputation among listeners of being incompetent as well as dull.

You know I'm racking my brains to remember anything at all about Mark Hebden. All I can come up with is that he was in the SDP.

He demonstrated the inadvisability of using a mobile phone whilst driving long before the legislation was introduced.

He once decided he wanted to be a blacksmith.
He went to Hong Kong.
He had a sister, Joanna, who Bunty and Shula forced on a diet, when she was scheduled to be a bridesmaid for the wedding that was cancelled (she either wasn't asked, or decided she'd rather eat chocolate éclairs than turn into a bridesmaid for the second one).
He was fond of cricket.
He left a parcel of Beatrix Potter books wrapped up with a label: "I hope our child will enjoy these as much as we do," which Shula found after he died.
He said he was human being not a baby-making machine, and when they had a trial separation and then a trial re-meeting he said he hadn't missed Shula, not even a little bit.

He also left a gold pocket watch which Shula found at the back of a drawer when she was clearing out his effects.
He really set the world on fire then......?
Probably the most boring character since Zebedee Tring
His parents thought he was much too left-wing and blamed Shula's influence.

yes--when he took on Usha Gupta as a partner his parents accused him of tokenism or political correctness or something.

He was one of many men in the area who enjoyed the attentions of Jackie Woodstock
He didn't like his school and didn't want a private school for his (hypothetical) children.

He'd done a law degree at Durham University.
He took up with Another Woman. I recall only that Shula was deeply miffed.

And just who was Jackie Woodstock? Or have I missed a joke here?
He thought it was a good idea to invite the new partner to dinner without telling Shula the new partner was Asian and female.

Gosh. There was such a lot to Mark Hedben, and there I was thinking of him as a sort of patch of verbal greyness. No wonder Shula misses him.

Jackie Woodstock was a silent who got a significant number of mentions when David, Mark H & co were young and fancy-free. Further than that I wouldn't venture to comment...

He never knew about his son, Daniel. It was only after the funeral etc was over that Shula realised their second IVF attempt had been successful.

I think she was another solicitor. Or possibly the daughter of a colleague. She only featured briefly as a silent.
