I have heard theres a lot of discussion on the shop & it may close soon!

I have been to a local village at Tanworth-in -arden & they also lost their shop & p/o too!
They both moved to the local pub name of 'The Bell'! I have no connection with the pub but wondered if yuo felt it was an idea to check out for future story lines?

The pub in Great Addington, Northamptonshire also houses the local village shop. I know of two post offices which are now run from private homes. I'm at a loss as to understand why Ambridge still has a Post office when its such a small village, surely it would have been closed under the latest round of cuts?

Darrington Post Office was closed, and Ambridge saved in the last round of cuts.

They turned the Village Shop in the village next to us into residential, and then opened another smaller establishment in someone's garage, which is doing very well, I hear. Just essentials and PO but enough..

Although Susan Carter is not one of my favourites - whines too much and as much of a snob in her own way as Jennifer and family- I feel that Pat Archer's manipulations to have her squeezed out is underhanded.

Now wouldn't it be such fun to set the cat amongst the pigeons by having Susan Carter win the lottery??? She could be Ambridge's first winner and a catalyst, upsetting the social order.

Based on the villages around here, I would say Ambridge would be a pretty marginal case at best. If it serves Darrington and Penny Hassett and a few others that would work, I suppose, but it definitely wouldn't be big enough on its own.

And the Penny Hassett PO was closed recently too, Susan said.

(You can still get ice cream there though.)
