As I'm new to the discussion board, can you please humour me?
How are the writers going to address Phils death - because so far there has been no mention of his sad passing in the story.

Nobody knows and they certainly aren't going to tell us, but I think I remember reading that Vanessa Whitburn favours letting him fade away gently. That would be my option too.
I guess they won't let him pop his clogs before Christmas and spoil it for everyone. Possibly he'll die in his sleep sometime in the new year.
Yes please Reggie, gently in his sleep.

Someone said elsethread recently that they 'knew' when Phil was going to die on air and told this. I was a bit annoyed as I don't like hearing spoilers and had assumed that the Bull Upstairs was the place for such things (I avoid the place very successfully). So if anyone wants to know the malicious gossip I accidently had foisted upon me, scroll down a bit.

he's apparantly going at Easter...
Well, I heard on Radio 4 "Feedback" prog that Phil's demise would be tackled after Xmas to give the cast a chance to come to terms with Norman's death. Very wise.
I suppose the only option would be a quiet passing on in his sleep, given his age, but I wouldn't care to be the scriptwriter who gets the responsibility for that upcoming episode.........

Apparently, Norman left notes on how he would like his death to be handled on-air.
